TRX training at Hands-on Health

Whole-body strength and rehabilitation – without the gym

Not a fan of the gym?

TRX training is a whole-body approach to fitness and rehabilitation using your own body weight — not dumbbells, machines or intimidating equipment. It’s suitable for all ages and physical conditions, and especially helpful if you want structured strength training in a calm, supportive environment.

At Hands-on Health, TRX is tailored entirely to you — whether you’re returning to exercise after injury, building strength for your sport, or rebuilding confidence post-natally.

You can even come along for a free 30-minute, no-obligation taster session to see if it’s right for you.

What is TRX?

TRX (Total Resistance Exercises) uses suspension straps and your own body weight to create resistance.

Because the straps can be adjusted instantly, exercises can be made easier or more challenging depending on your ability. That makes TRX ideal for:

  • Rehabilitation after surgery, illness or injury
  • Post-natal return to fitness
  • Improving balance and stability
  • Building strength without heavy weights
  • Increasing flexibility and mobility
  • Enhancing stamina and endurance

Every exercise engages your core and stabilising muscles, helping to build strength in a balanced, functional way.

Who TRX is ideal for

TRX works particularly well if you:

  • Don’t enjoy traditional gym environments
  • Feel unsure about returning to exercise after injury
  • Have completed physiotherapy but don’t know how to progress safely
  • Want careful supervision and individual attention
  • Prefer small, supportive groups
  • Are looking for long-term strength rather than quick fixes

Because resistance is created by your own body position, it can be progressed gradually and safely as you get stronger, fitter and more confident.

How TRX sessions work at Hands-on Health

All sessions are led by an experienced instructor and kept intentionally small to ensure personal attention.

1:1 TRX Training

Fully personalised sessions tailored to your goals, injuries, sport or rehabilitation needs.

Small Group TRX (Maximum 3 people)

Groups are limited to three people so your instructor can always monitor technique and adjust exercises for you individually.

You can:

  • Book the same day and time each week
  • Or book on an ad-hoc basis if that suits your schedule better

If you need to miss a class, just give 24 hours’ notice and your payment will be carried forward.

TRX for rehabilitation and return to fitness

TRX is particularly effective for those recovering from:

  • Joint injuries
  • Surgery (including joint replacements)
  • Back or shoulder problems
  • Periods of illness
  • Reduced mobility

Because movements are controlled and adjustable, exercises can begin gently and progress safely as your strength improves.

If you are already a Hands-on Health patient, TRX can form a natural next step after treatment — helping you maintain improvements and reduce the risk of recurrence.

TRX for new mums and post-natal recovery

Returning to exercise after pregnancy can feel daunting.

TRX provides a safe, structured way to:

  • Rebuild core strength
  • Improve pelvic stability
  • Regain overall strength and endurance
  • Restore confidence in movement

Sessions are supportive, small and adaptable to your stage of recovery. Progression is gradual and always based on how you feel.

What results can you expect?

With regular sessions, clients often notice:

  • Improved core strength
  • Better balance and coordination
  • Reduced aches and pains
  • Increased confidence in movement
  • Greater stamina for daily life

Because TRX develops stability as well as strength, the benefits often carry over into sport, walking, gardening and everyday activity.
