We had ‘a bit of a do’ last Monday.
Our official opening, complete with ribbon cutting (yes, of course it was a green ribbon) by Exmouth’s Mayor, Sandy Sutton, was attended by over 60 guests who enjoyed local food and drink, watched demonstrations by our team of local therapists and teachers and met some of the local tradespeople and suppliers who helped to create the business.
Albie McMahon, partner and massage therapist at the clinic, expressed his pride in what we’ve achieved: “Everything you see here has been made possible by a phenomenal team of people from the local business community. As a result we have an eco-clinic, with a low carbon footprint, using sustainable and organic products. We have a fantastic working environment where we can offer a multi-disciplinary team approach to help ordinary people with their health and fitness. This is the sort of opportunity normally only available to elite athletes, but we feel that anyone should have the opportunity to look after themselves properly. I feel very privileged to introduce the Hands-on Health team to you today.”
We were surprised and delighted by the positive response from our guests, who commented on how restful the atmosphere is, how comfortable they felt and how Hands-on Health is “just what Exmouth needed.”
Some guests took advantage of taster sessions – Sue Arnold’s reflexology was a big hit, as were Aaron Goodwin’s myofascial release and Ali Colledge’s acupuncture. Lesley Harper chatted to guests about how nutritional therapy might help them, Neil Richardson and Angela Ashwin discussed ashtanga and hatha yoga and Albie showed how effective a short seated massage session can be (All photos: Claire Sloane Photography).
At the same time, the studio was packed with people watching Rob Deere demonstrate the TRX equipment – and it was brilliant to see some guests having a go themselves!
We owe huge thanks to the whole team for their help and enthusiasm, especially our two receptionists, Samantha and Sue, who worked so hard to make everything run smoothly. There’s no doubt now that Hands-on Health is on the map!
And very special thanks must go to Lucienne Kidd, head chef of The Grapevine, just a few doors up the road, who created and served the most wonderful canapés made from local ingredients, including many from her own garden. They went beautifully with the celebratory local fizz choices – Sparkling Brut from Pebblebed Vineyards in Topsham, Dragon’s Tears cider from Darts Farm in Topsham and sparkling Jonagold apple juice from Sunnyhaye in Woodbury.
It really was a very local event. And what a team we’ve got!
(Oh, and in case you were wondering, the green ribbon came from Exmouth Indoor Market!)
At our Exmouth eco-clinic, we offer a multi-disciplinary team approach involving acupuncture, massage therapies, McTimoney chiropractic, myofascial release, nutrition, reflexology, circuit training, corrective exercise, Pilates, Tai Chi, TRX, yoga and more.
