Hands-on Health ‘had a gig’ on Saturday, when massage therapist Albie McMahon represented the team at the Show of Hands family festival in Abbotsbury’s glorious sub-tropical gardens, near Weymouth.
Show of Hands, the award-winning acoustic roots duo Phil Beer and Steve Knightley, based in Topsham, headline this incredibly popular day-long festival every July, and invite various musicians to join them on the outdoor stage. This is a huge and stressful undertaking, as everything from staging and PA to catering and loos has to be brought into the gardens – and the weather is never guaranteed!
This year, the weather was glorious from beginning to end, and the bands performed their sell-out gig in front of over 1,000 enthusiastic fans enjoying picnics (about whom Phil Beer coined a new phrase – the Nosh Pit).
We like to think that the stunning performances and laid-back atmosphere were helped, just a little bit, by the relaxing seated massage sessions that Albie was offering to organisers and performers backstage (in a lovely sunny part of the gardens) throughout the day!
