Around 80 people came to see us today (26 September) when we hooked up with four other Exmouth businesses for a free community health event for over 50s, focusing on an active lifestyle, healthy eating and help with the issues of ageing.
The two-hour event in the very comfortable sun lounge at the Devoncourt Hotel included help and advice from Bloom Hearing Specialists, McAusland Optometrists and Mother Earth Health Foods as well as guidance on health and fitness from members of our team and tours of the Devoncourt’s spa and gym facilities. Albie and Helen were there to make sure that lots of people enjoyed a seated massage during the event, and they also had numerous conversations about massage, podiatry, yoga, TRX training and more.
All the visitors got ‘goody bags’ that included discount vouchers, health food product samples, pens, keyrings, mints, spectacle cases and cloths, and useful information.
John Mackenzie, Hearing Aid Audiologist at Bloom said: “We were delighted with the number of people we saw, particularly as we were able to talk to some we wouldn’t normally have met about their hearing.” Lorraine Ross of Mother Earth added: “It was so nice to meet so many new people, and it’s always a lovely feeling to give away healthy free samples – everyone was so happy. I look forward to seeing some of them again.” Keval Sejpar of McAusland Optometrists agreed: “It was a lovely opportunity in a relaxed environment to talk to people in the local community about the importance of eye health. We thoroughly enjoyed coming together with other local health providers to promote health and wellbeing.
Visitors commented that it was a great opportunity to talk to a specific range of health-related companies in one place and to see the hotel’s facilities. Many found it very helpful to be able to discuss their health concerns in such an open and friendly environment.
Some, who experienced seated massage for the first time, said they’d definitely have massage again, and others were excited to learn about TRX as an alternative to having to go to the gym!
Albie said: “This turned out to be a very popular event, and it was great to be able to offer so much information and advice. Don’t worry if you missed it – we’re planning on doing another one before long!”
