Tai Chi (tai ji)
Traditional tai ji training strengthens bones, increases blood circulation and improves concentration. Stimulating and challenging, it also cultivates internal strength.
Students may find that excess tension and stress can be removed through the intense physical and mental workout.
“Tai ji is an art where the soft overcomes the hard, the calm subdues the aggressive. It is a method of bringing ourselves into harmony with ourselves … and all the energies of our larger environment. Tai ji form develops internal strength, ‘pushing hands’ develops sensitivity. Through daily practice, internal organs receive a gentle massage, the blood flow, ligaments and tendons and bones are strengthened, the chi (qi ) accumulates and circulates freely around the body. People of all ages are able to practise tai ji … it leads people from the everyday state, to a position of inner knowledge, inner calmness, and inner power.”
