Myofascial release

Myofascial release treatmentThe word ‘myofascial’ is derived from the Latin words ‘myo’ for muscle and ‘fascia’ for band. The fascia, sometimes called fibrous bands or connective tissue, is a 3D continuous web of microscopic hollow tubules that extends without interruption from the top of the head to the tip of the toes.

Myofascial release is a soothing and gentle hands-on treatment encouraging layers of fascia to release and stretch back to their original anatomical position giving you a greater range of movement and heightened sense of well-being. It is approved by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

It is an ideal treatment for postural alignment – results can sometimes be instant. Because it is so gentle, it can be used within one or two weeks of an injury or operation, with the consent of your consultant.

The first consultation will include questions to provide a general overview of your health and medical history, including medication, ongoing treatments and previous operations.

You will be asked to undress to your underwear. Hands-on Health’s therapist Aaron Goodwin will then take about ten minutes to make a careful postural assessment as well as feeling (palpating) the fascia before treatment commences.
