Our resident superwoman, Helen Jones, has added PiYo power yoga to our schedule.
Helen, who is a massage therapist, yoga instructor and triathlete, is now running PiYo LIVE classes on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in the Hands-on Health studio in addition to her ashtanga yoga sessions.
PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. It doesn’t matter how fit you are, how old you are, or how flexible – it’s about learning to love and look after the body you’ve been given. It’s about challenging your limits, both mentally and physically and learning to breathe through it.
It speeds everything up – including your results – by introducing you to dynamic, flowing sequences that can burn serious calories at the same time as they lengthen and tone your muscles and increase your flexibility. One of our PiYo regulars has told Helen that she highly recommends it: “PiYo is low impact but makes you sweat! Short sections are repeated so it’s easy to follow. I have noticed an improvement in my core and arm strength, and it really complements my yoga practice.”
