Our Yoga in the Dark event on 16 November was a great success, with everyone saying they enjoyed the different perspective that it gave. Most especially, it emphasised one of the basic principles of yoga, that there should be no ego – you turn up on your mat and do the best you can on the day, without comparing yourself to anyone else. Not being able to see what anyone else is doing leaves you free to focus on your own body.
Following this success, and a comment from the RNIB’s Area Fundraising Manager, Lizzie Elliot, that yoga is such an accessible form of exercise, instructor Helen Jones will be running monthly In the Dark yoga sessions which will be open both to people using blindfolds/sim specs and those with sight impairments.
Helen will give clear audible instructions, as well as coming around and helping/adjusting anyone who needs it, during these sessions.
The classes will take place at 6pm on the first Thursday of every month, except for the first one which will be on 11 January, and the cost is £8.
Places are limited, so call 01395 224207 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book yours.
